Holden was extra fussy today. I'm not quite sure what his problem was, but Alex and I could not put him down ALL. DAY. I thought maybe he was cutting a tooth, but it seems early and I couldn't feel anything in his mouth. Then again, my mom said I cut my first tooth at two and a half months.
Holden is two months and a little over three weeks old. He is getting so big!
He is also sleeping through the night a little better. He will still sometimes wake up here and there because his pacifier has fallen out of his mouth, or he's kicked his blankets off... but other than that, I'm pretty proud of him.
Earlier today when he was being a fussbox, I tried making faces at him. This hasn't worked before so you can imagine it was kind of a last ditch effort. Well... he started to smile at me! Of course, he couldn't forget that he'd been upset and switched on the frown again, but I caught those little grins!
And damn if I didn't hear a few giggles! I really do think he is at the point where he is going to start laughing. He's done it a few times in the last few days. It sounds kind of like a laugh, but sometimes I get no grin with it so I can't be sure.
He has also discovered that he can smack his lips and control his tongue. A little frustrating because it makes it harder for me to tell when he's hungry. He no longer does the whole "rooting" thing. I guess I will just have to assume he's hungry if nothing else works!
OH! And, we've left him in the care of the YMCA nursery twice now for about an hour each time. I was sad to give him up but he was absolutely great! That little brat even let the girl hold him "cradle style"! He NEVER does that for mommy or daddy! Even so, I am soo happy he plays well with strangers. Cutie.
Alex and I will be going to some friends of ours' wedding October 9-11. Grandmother and Grandad Thomson will be watching him. I have never been away from my precious boy for soo long! It sounds stupid, but I hope I don't get all emotional about it while we are there. I know he will be very well taken care of, but I can certainly understand how tough it must be for moms going back to work to leave their little ones for the first time!
I can't wait for Halloween so that I can dress up my little bumble bee and show him off.
P.S. Hi Safa! I know you're reading this. I'm sorry it took me so long to post again. ;)
