Smileypants McGee

Holden is smiling a lot more! I can't wait until he does it on a regular basis. It's just the cutest thing.

He continues to sleep about 4 hours, starting around 9 or so, and lasting until around 1. After he eats, he sleeps again until about 3 or 4 am, and wakes up every one or two hours until he usually won't sleep anymore around 7.

He naps during the day, but it doesn't seem to make a difference whether he sleeps or not during the day when it comes to sleeping at night. I just hope he will start sleeping in at least 7 hour stretches soon.

It's hard getting him to sleep. I usually have to nurse him or let him fall asleep on me. Before too long he needs to start sleeping in his crib. I am going to spoil him sleeping on me, but I love it!

It's funny how the precautions with infants have changed from when my parents had my brothers and I. It used to be that you placed a baby on their stomachs to sleep so that they didn't choke on anything. Now it's the opposite. My grandmother says that they used to give babies karo syrup for constipation. MayoClinic.com says that's a no-no due to a chance of infant botulism. My grandmother also suggested putting rice cereal in his bottle. My pediatrician doesn't recommend that until at least 4 months.

My maternal grandmother also smoked during her pregnancies.

Amazing we survived! ;)

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

My mother never had us in car seats and rubbed whisky on our gums when we were teething. If we did that today CPS would take our kids! It's amazing how times have changed.
