1 Month Check Up!

Holden had his supposed "one month" check up today. A little late, I know...But our pediatrician is apparently very busy, so we couldn't get in until yesterday.

He now weighs a whopping 11 lbs 6 oz, and measures 22 inches long! That is, the 60% percentile in weight (my little chunky monkey!) and the 30% for height. What a big boy!

The doctor said he checked out just fine! And asked if we wanted to go ahead and get his 2 month vaccinations.

Undoubtedly this is a day most new parents dread, as having people stick your baby with large needles isn't exactly a picnic.

He was vaccinated for polio, whooping cough, rotavirus, hib, hepatitis B, and pneumococcal disease. Luckily, three of these were in one shot, for a total of three sticks. Still, watching his little face go from content to tragic broke my heart.

Surprisingly, though, as soon as I picked him up and cuddled him (while struggling to restrain tears myself) he calmed back down. I had imagined him to cry all the way home and be fussy for the rest of the day, but he was OK. I gave him some grape infant Tylenol, and the world was good.

ps : The look on his face after tasting the Tylenol was classic... adorable!

  1. Aww he is growing fast! Even then, he makes me seem like a baby sumo as I have consistently stayed up in the 90th percentile since shortly after birth - I'm a chunky monkey haha :) Babies are tough cookies huh? Amazing what a cuddle can do!

  2. LOL, aww Iris! Keep in mind Holden was born three weeks premature! He eats like he is catching up! One of my friends' little boy is the 90th percentile for both height and weight too!
